The day started with a ride to Stinson Beach on June 20, 2008. The warm summer winds were exceptional as I rode north on highway 101 and extiting towards Muir Woods. After passing through Marin I made my way up the hill towards the coast, however it was so warm out that wearing my leather was out of the question as I most likely would have gotten too hot during the ride.
While making it over the hill and down the coast the view was incredible, blue skies as far as the eyes could see. The winding roads seemed to extend forever as we rolled into the turns coming closer to the top. At the top of the hill I thought that it couldn't get any better, but as I gazed down the mountain on the coast my eyes couldn't believe the beauty that waited for me. It was a picture perfect view of the coast line and white sandy beach as I saw it packed with the shapes of people. I was still a few miles up but as we drew closer the crowd on the beach line was like a blanket that covered the sand.
We finally arrived at the rental home and it just got better from there. Water on both sides, the canal on the back where our private deck hosed a hot tub looking across the channel and several canoes, and the front view was of the harbor. Of course all windows in the front and back of the home. Sat I rode over Sir Francis Drake from Stinson Beach. The redwoods were a welcome site as they provided shade from the heat of the sun. Riding down the coast through Dog town (yes there is actually a town called Dog Town) was exhilarating. Overall I could not have asked for a better weekend and the ride down the coast, through the redwoods is one I plan on taking again soon.
